Any candidate, from any political party or independent, standing for the Dáil in the next General Election may make the R48 Candidate Pledge.

"If elected to the Dail I hereby pledge to vote for the reintroduction of Article 48 into the Irish Constitution within six months of taking office following the next General Election."
